Order booker app that works without internet: what to look for
Order bookers (sales officers) visit 30 to 60 shops a day. Writing orders in a diary and typing them again in the office wastes hours and makes mistakes. An order booking app on the officer's phone fixes that, but only if it keeps working where the signal is weak: inside markets, basements and small towns.
Why "works offline" matters most
Many apps only work with internet. In the market that means the officer waits, gives up, and goes back to the diary. A good app saves the order on the phone first and sends it by itself when the signal comes back, without sending anything twice. The officer should see how many orders are still waiting to send.
Checklist: what the app must do
- Today's route: the shops for this day, in order, with each shop's khata balance.
- Cartons, boxes and pieces on every line, not pieces only.
- Your prices and schemes (for example "10 + 1" or a percentage off) worked out on the order, the same way as on the bill.
- Repeat last order: most shops order the same things every week.
- Stock warning, so the officer does not promise what the godown does not have.
- No-order reason (shop closed, has stock, payment issue), so a visit without an order still counts.
- Cash collection with a receipt, linked to the shop's khata.
- Visit location (only with the officer's permission), to see which shops were really visited.
- Each officer sees only their own shops: no other officer's customers, no company reports.
What happens in the office
Booked orders arrive in a list. The office checks them, ticks many at once and turns them into bills, with prices and schemes worked out again on the server so nothing can be changed on the phone. The same orders feed the load form for tomorrow's van, and the collections feed the recovery sheet.
Starting with your team
- Start with one route and one officer for a week.
- Put every shop's code, area and visit day in the software first.
- Check the first week's orders against the diary, then drop the diary.
- Add the other officers one by one.
How SundarVahi does it
SundarVahi Orders is a phone app for sales officers. It opens even with no signal, keeps the officer's shops, products, prices and schemes on the phone, and does everything in the checklist above: cartons / boxes / pieces, schemes, repeat last order, stock warning, no-order reasons, cash collection and a "waiting to send" count. In the office, booked orders become bills in one click, and officer cash is confirmed when it is handed over.
No Play Store needed: the officer opens the app link once in Chrome and adds it to the home screen.
Questions
Does the officer need a new phone?
No. Any Android phone that runs Chrome works; the app is small and keeps working offline.
What if the officer books the same order twice?
Each order has its own ID made on the phone, so sending it again never makes a second order.
Can officers change prices on the phone?
They see your list prices and schemes. When the office makes the bill, the prices are worked out again on the server.
